During the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Genocide perpetrated against TUTSI of Rwanda, the Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR), through its Restorative Justice and peace building club, organized a training of 2 days to promote unity and reconciliation. This workshop led by the RJPB, is in the line of community service envisioned by CUR in its mission to contribute to the solving of Rwandan post-genocide challenges.
The club for Restorative Justice and peace building entered from its conception (December 2018) in partnership with Missionaries of peace of Christ the King (MPC) , whose founder is Sr Dr Donata Uwimanimpaye , Lecturer of the topic “ Peace Education and Conflict Resolution” at CUR. The purpose of this module taught in the Faculty of Catechesis and Religious Sciences, is to offer a basic knowledge and skills to the students on the theories of peace building and conflicts management, to sort out values as recognition, tolerance, empathy, forgiveness, reconciliation, justice, honesty, solidarity and to invite students to actively contribute to the society transformation, more particularly to work for the transformation of families and communities into united and peaceful environments using the uncountable power of youth . Thus, it is from the content of the course delivery that raised the inspiration of founding the club that will continue to spread the strategies of peace building in schools and other Institutions surrounding the Catholic University of Rwanda and even in other places of Rwanda.
