Members of the new Catholic University of Rwanda Student Guild Council were sworn in on Sunday January 26, 2020 at Save campus located in Gisagara District. Most of the candidates on the various positions on the Guild Government emerged unopposed including the Guild President.
The former Guild President Mr. Samuel thanked the University management for supporting her committee in the implementation of their plan of action during their entire stay in office.
"Let me express my thanks to Promoters and Management for the support extended to us. Indeed we managed to achieve all the above because of the resources availed to us. Of course there are certain tasks that we haven’t completed but I am sure the new team will implement that." Said the former Guild President.

The Guild President Mr NIYIGENA Silas, the ministers and the Guild Representative Council took oaths swearing to uphold, preserve, protect and defend the Guild constitution as well as to promote the values and norms of Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR).
"I pledge to exercise my guild powers and promise the student body; good governance practices, promotion of innovations and games and sports, remarkable health dynamics, and good representation of students." Said Mr NIYIGENA Silas

In his remark, Mgr. GAHIZI Jean Marie Vianney, Rector of Catholic University of Rwanda congratulated the new Guild Government and thanked the outgoing Government (2018-2019) for the work they did in their regime since they were officially presiding Catholic University of Rwanda.
"Leadership is service; you have to put the interests of the people you are serving above your own interests. You need to work with the people in the institution that is the students and the leaders of the institution." He said
"I commend the students of their maturity and calls upon the new Guild Government to address their concerns." He added

Mgr. GAHIZI Jean Marie Vianney also advised the new Guild Government to protect the constitution and live by the rules of Catholic University of Rwanda. According to him, by assuming their duties and responsibilities students’ leaders learn how to build relationships within teams, to define identities and to achieve tasks effectively.
He urged them to be grounded in ethics and integrity. He observed that their fellow students who placed them on those leadership positions did so, because they trusted them and he therefore asked them to keep on building that trust.
