Establishment
In reference to the prime mission of the Church which is the integral development of mankind;
Considering that the development of intellectual faculties is one of the essential means to accomplish this mission;
Sharing the concern of the Government of the Republic of RWANDA to develop human resources so as to face the social problems such as poverty, various diseases including HIV and malaria, division-based ideologies, etc.
The Catholic Church of Rwanda has judged it useful to reinforce its contribution in the area of intellectual development by creating a Higher Institute of Scientific Education whose major aim is to prepare highly qualified and devoted professionals to respond to the problems of the socio-economic development of RWANDA.
In this perspective, the major challenge of the CUR is to make available an important number of qualified people in the following domains: science and technology, health and nutrition, commerce, social work, religious sciences and education.
Objectives
As regards the challenges of the development of human resources in Rwanda, CUR sets itself the following objectives:
- To provide teachings allowing various groups of graduates to acquire specialized qualifications;
- To attach particular importance to professional practice so as to develop the learners know-how efficiently;
- To meet the real needs on the job market in the areas of science and technology, commerce, health and nutrition, social work, education and religious sciences;
- To contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the national policy of sustainable development and notably at the level of the transversal domains of the Vision 2020: the development of human resources, the promotion of Rwandans health, the reduction of poverty, the protection of environment, the promotion of ICT, etc.
- To promote the spirit of entrepreneurship while exploiting the existing potentialities at national, regional and international level;
