This course will equip students with critical thinking. The purpose of this module is to help students to analyse and evaluate the historical foundations of Education, comparative Education, philosophy and sociology of education. The course brings us the methods used in the past in education and the ones used currently.

The course will review the classical and major schools of philosophy of education and their position in answering to questions about the purpose of schooling, a teacher's role, and what should be taught and by what methods.

It will review also different theories of educational sociology and analyse the interdependence between the school and the society changes.

This course is one of the components of the module: THEORY AND PRACTICE OF TEACHING. It equips students with skills in measuring knowledge of students, in knowing how to select adequate tools of measurement. Moroever, this course helps students to to kow how to evaluate students' knowledge and take adequate measures regarding the obtained data
